Sitting Forlorn

It was yesterday evening past nine o’clock. I was sitting on a bench which stood near the bus stop opposite the shopping arcade. As it was the time when most of the people reach after a long journey to Mumbai. So at this point of time time, very few people were roaming out. There was no movement in the air. The leaves were not stirring at all. The background looked like a still photo, static not dynamic with only some activity at the bottom of the picture. One fellow was trundling home with a small bag of some eatables, he… Read More »Sitting Forlorn

Dreams

These days, he is dreaming a dream. He is running away from his home. Though in reality, it is not his age to run but still he is running away, sprinting and panting. Some saint is trying to dissuade him but he does not listen though he feels guilty about not listening to him. You cannot dream anything in sleep. There is a perfect reason behind the dreams though nobody has still found a perfect explanation. It is generally agreed that our subconscious mind is a repository of our suppressed and unfulfilled desires. Seams of such feelings continue to deposit… Read More »Dreams

Frog and Scorpion Retold

The basic nature of man never changes as the famous poet Waris Shah said it hundreds years ago. He said “Waris Shah na adtaan jandiyan ne, bhaven katiye porian porian ji” meaning come what may, the habits never die. Same lesson is sought to be conveyed by the fable “Frog and Scorpion” which is commonly attributed to Aesop though the authenticity of this claim is contested by some authorities. Any way here we are concerned with the fable and what it tells. Once upon a time a scorpion needs to go to the other side of the river. He knows… Read More »Frog and Scorpion Retold

Alone

You can be in a crowd, still you can feel lonely. Loneliness is not a physical or materialistic phenomenon. It works on a mental plane. You can be with people who are related to you, who has been with you for years but still be feeling lonely. A person who is physically not present, who is thousands of miles away can occupy your mind and can be very close to you. In contrast, another person can be within a touching distance, even then both of you can be light years apart. It is both ways. Some persons are like Moon… Read More »Alone

Thoughts

Writing does not come easily. Thoughts jostle with one another in the brain. Confusion abounds in the head. Everything is hazy. Threads of thoughts seemed to be entangled on one another. Incoherent stream of them is what comes out. Inside there is overcrowding of thoughts, because the thinking process is unending, but it seems that they don’t want to leave the brain. They seem to be pushing one another out. Occasionally, some thoughts come popping out and spill on to the paper. The ink hardly dries from pen because the words do not flow like torrents but just as a… Read More »Thoughts

Window to Vista

You are sitting in room enclosed in the walls. You long to know and feel the open world. You crane your neck but nothing helps. Why do you long to go outside? This is because you have created inside the room a world of your own. You are the architect of that world. You have changed the ambiance of the room to make it to your own liking and comfort. But at the same time, you want to savor the nature or the world outside. You open the window. Now a sliver of the nature is within your grasp. You… Read More »Window to Vista

View from Window

The view from from window of my room at 4 O’clock in the Evening: It is 4 O’clock in the evening. The sunshine is becoming pale at the approach of the evening. The mornings, evenings and nights are becoming cooler. Sky is still clear. Sitting in the same room of my home on the third floor, I am looking at the scene out side from the window. The outline of trees looks like the drawing of a child making lines with a pencil which are not straight but serrated. The shadows and lights are playing exclusive games in the branches… Read More »View from Window

Obits

The Times of India carries large number of obituaries every day. It devotes one full page for this purpose where bereaved people want to share with the world the loss of their dear ones. Generally, there is a photograph of the person who has gone up and then there are epitaphs some of which are simply exaggerations, but this is permitted because there are both flip and face sides to everything and everyone’s perspective is different. Today, I saw a obituary which quotes a poem by Henry Scott Holland. It is reproduced below in Toto. It is beautiful poem exuding… Read More »Obits

Then and Now

These days, I am taking a look at the posts which I had posted since the beginning of this blog. After going through the older posts in my blog, I am surprised how original I was since 3 to 4 years back. But I did not got much responses. My statistics were very dismal. In fact they were sustained by the posts which were copied from the internet. These were like sprinkling of the salt on the salad. Even a nutritious food cannot be savored if it does not contain the spices. I find that the newer ones are not… Read More »Then and Now
